Real Apple Pie by Karla Remillard
Ingredients:
7 or 8 medium Golden Delicious Apples
½ c flour
1 c sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
¼ tsp Nutmeg
½ c water
2 tbs margarine
Directions:
Peel, core and slice apples.
Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg in a saucepan. Stir in water. Add apples and cook, stirring gently, until the apple mixture comes to a boil.
Pour apples mixture into a pastry-lined pie pan. Dot with margarine. Cover with crumb topping (see directions below).
Bake at 400° for 10 minutes then reduce heat to 350° and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until filling is bubbly.
CRUMB TOPPING
Ingredients:
½ c flour
½ c brown sugar (packed)
½ tsp cinnamon
3 tbs margarine
Directions:
Use a fork or pastry blender to combine flour, brown sugar and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Cut in margarine. Mixture should resemble coarse crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over the pie filling prior to baking.
